The Guru and the Self
Ramana Maharshi taught that the Guru is not separate from the Self. The Guru is the Self, and the Self is the Guru. The external Guru points to the internal Guru.
Ramana Maharshi taught that the Guru is not separate from the Self. The Guru is the Self, and the Self is the Guru. The external Guru is a reflection of the internal Guru, which is the Self. The external Guru's role is to point the disciple to the internal Guru.
The true Guru is not the body or the personality, but the Self that shines through them. When one is in the presence of a realized Guru, one experiences the presence of the Self. This is why the Guru's presence is so powerful and transformative.
The goal of the disciple is to realize that the Guru and the Self are one. When this is realized, the external Guru is no longer needed, for one has found the Guru within. The Guru is always within, waiting to be recognized.
