Who Am I?

Who Am I?

The question 'Who am I?' is not just a philosophical inquiry, but a direct method to realize the Self. Ramana Maharshi taught this as the simplest and most direct path.

Ask 'Who am I?' and trace the 'I' to its source. That source is the Self.

The question "Who am I?" is the essence of Ramana Maharshi's teaching. It is not a question to be answered intellectually, but a method to trace the "I" thought back to its source. When one asks "Who am I?" and follows the inquiry deeply, the "I" thought merges into its source, which is the Self.

This practice is deceptively simple. One simply asks "Who am I?" whenever thoughts arise. As thoughts subside, the "I" thought itself is traced back to its source. When the "I" thought is destroyed, what remains is the Self, which is pure consciousness.

This method requires no special preparation, no complex techniques, no external aids. It can be practiced anywhere, at any time. It is the direct path to Self-realization, available to all who are sincere in their search.
