The Daily Routine

Life at Ramanasramam followed a simple, regular routine centered around meditation, self-inquiry, and service. The sage's presence was the heart of this routine.

Routine is not important. What is important is abiding in the Self.

Life at Ramanasramam followed a simple, regular routine. The day would begin early with meditation and self-inquiry. Devotees would gather in the hall where Ramana Maharshi sat, and they would meditate together in his presence.

Throughout the day, the sage would be available to devotees. Some would ask questions, while others would simply sit in silence, absorbing his presence. The evening would include more meditation and sometimes readings from spiritual texts.

This routine was not rigid, but flexible, adapting to the needs of devotees. The constant factor was the sage's presence, which provided the foundation for all activities. In his presence, even ordinary activities became spiritual practice.
