Ramana Maharshi emphasized the importance of continuous practice. Self-inquiry is not something to be practiced only during meditation, but throughout the day. Whenever thoughts arise, one should ask "Who am I?" and trace the "I" thought to its source.
The practice should be constant and persistent. One should not be discouraged by the mind's restlessness or by the apparent lack of progress. Simply continue the practice, and gradually the mind will quieten, and the Self will be revealed.
Practice is like a fire that gradually burns away the obstacles. With continuous practice, the obstacles are removed, and the Self shines forth. The key is persistence and sincerity. One must practice with the determination to realize the Self, no matter how long it takes.
