The Last Days

Even in his last days, Ramana Maharshi remained completely established in the Self. His presence continued to radiate peace, and he continued to guide devotees until the very end.

The Self is eternal. It never dies.

In his last days, as his body weakened from cancer, Ramana Maharshi remained completely established in the Self. His presence continued to radiate the same profound peace it always had. Devotees who came during this time found that being in his presence was as transformative as ever.

He continued to answer questions and provide guidance, though his words were fewer. His silent presence spoke more powerfully than ever. Even as the body was dying, the Self remained untouched, eternal and unchanging.

When he left the body on April 14, 1950, a shooting star was seen in the sky, and many devotees experienced profound spiritual experiences. His passing was not an end, but a continuation of his presence in a different form. The Self that he had realized and taught continues to guide seekers today.
